Does my dog interact with other dogs?
If your dog is social we take a lot of time and care to place your dog with a play buddy that suits, not every dog is social with everyone! We do take pride in our pairings, and we don't put large numbers together AT ALL. We only put 2/3 large dogs together at one time and small dogs 3/4. We have an awesome new toy dog house that is set up for new timid/quiet dogs which we only have up to 7 in the house at one time, this is a great facility for the new little dogs that have never been away from home before, they love the house as its like a home. We also don't blend big dogs with little dogs unless they are from the same family :)
Do you have heating in winter?
Yes, our small dog block is heated with heatpumps and we also have great wool insulation. In our large dog area the temperature sits on 17degrees and we have wool insulation and shutters that we close over at night to keep your dog nice and snuggly warm. We also have dog jackets available and use these on clipped dogs first thing in the morning so they keep warm while outside.
How much time will my dog spend outside?
A normal day consist of two long exercise times, which can be up to 4 hours each session, we love the dogs out as much as possible as they play and are much happier to go in at night as they are worn out from the days exercise. We pride ourselves on how much time they are out.
In the middle of the day, especially in summer, they spend a couple of hours in, which the dogs enjoy a much needed sleep.
Do the owners live on site?
Yes we do, and we have an intercom system in place so we can listen in to the dogs any time of day or night.
There is always someone on site 7 days.
Do you charge any extra for administering medication?
No we don't, we have one set fee and that's it.
Do we have to pay first?
Normally payment is on pick up. We may ask for a part payment for long term stays. We also reserve the right to ask for a deposit for Holiday weeks and busy weekends. While there is only a small amount of time involved in a cancellation it is frustrating to contact those on a waitlist only to discover these clients have cancelled travel etc. Filling spots at the last minute means we often have gaps and short stays only for busy periods. For this reason deposits have a time limit when the deposit becomes NON- REFUNDABLE. Please only book when you know your dates.
Does my cat interact with other cats?
No, as cats aren't normally social, we do have a cat lounge which we let cats out individually in to if they like.
How much attention does my cat or dog get?
We love to give both the dogs and cats a brush, but only if they enjoy it! We also like to throw balls to the dogs who love to play fetch!
Cuddles and pats are a plenty! Even carrying the little ones about for long cuddles is a regular occurrence!
What food do we use?
Black Hawk which is wonderful product as comes in a sensitive grain free range for sensitive skin and stomach, with no nasties like corn, wheat and soy. We also use a chicken, vegetable and rice roll which is gluten, wheat and sugar free, we blend this with our dry food for the little dogs and fussy eaters as they love it! We also use Mighty mix nourish biscuits. (A NZ made product that is proving to be 'world class')
We feed twice a day.
Can we come and inspect the kennels before booking in?
Yes of course! We welcome your visit and love showing people around, but it has to be between 8-9.30am or 4-5.30pm.
Not during School holidays / Public Holiday weekends or the PM shift on a Sunday as it gets too noisy and is busy. It does pay to ring or text first to check, as sometimes if we are not expecting clients the hours could alter and we may be closed. (See days closed as well).
Please don't bring your dog, the visit is for you and we don't want the dogs getting a bad impression as all the other dogs will bark at them (the set up of the kennels is that the dogs get to see everyone arriving).
How can I help my dog/cat settle in when its his/hers first time boarding?
Dropping off a new dog early in the opening session lets them settle and meet other dogs to play with. Also don't show them you are upset leaving, as that is the worst thing you can do! Just be happy, calm and leave them quietly with no fuss, they soon settle once you are out of sight and we give them lots of extra attention to help them adjust.
Do you have Eftpos? and take credit cards?
Yes we do have Eftpos and take credit cards (although not American Express).

The vaccine for Canine Cough will take 7 days to be effective, but can be reduced to 72 hours if given by nose or mouth. (note even vaccinated dogs can be carriers or contract Canine cough but in milder form. It has a 5 -7 day incubation period before symptoms show). Dogs must be free of parasites and treated for worms and fleas at least 5 days before arrival.
